Chris Smith Places First in Shotgun Enduro with Christini All Wheel Drive Motorcycle Philadelphia (PA) -- 07.05.2006 - Six-time ISDE gold medallist Chris Smith finished first last weekend in the A-250 bracket at the Shotgun Enduro race in Grier, PA. Smith was riding a modified Honda CRF 250x equipped with Christini AWD technology. Heavy rains left the course incredibly challenging to ride and littered the trails with disabled riders. A large hill gave most riders a tough time, but not Chris Smith. Smith easily tore up the embankment thanks to his Christini motorcycle, "When a rider gets into a situation where the conditions make it very difficult to climb, they usually back off. The Christini motorcycle gives me the confidence to charge into those situations and hit the throttle. There's an old saying, 'When in doubt, gas it', this bike gives new meaning to that phrase. This bike allows you to be more aggressive and the harder you ride it, the better it performs." Smith was not the only one riding the revolutionary AWD motorcycles. Ron Lucas placed 4th in A-4 stroke light and Jamie Wright placed 4th in A-vet class, both riding the Christini AWD motorcycles. When the rear wheel slips, the front tire grips and the bike becomes AWD drive. This AWD drive feature can be activated by the flip of a switch, and is only engaged when the rear wheel begins to slip. This feature has noticeable advantages in loose terrain and muddy conditions, just as we saw this weekend at Shotgun Enduro. The AWD system adds just 15 lbs of weight and power loss has been recorded at less than 1 percent. In the fourth quarter of 2006, frame kits will be sold to convert your stock CRF 250x into all wheel drive, followed by production of the CRF 450x frame kit in 2007.
