Riding a rain-slicked climb he’d cleaned a hundred times, Steve Christini’s rear wheel spins out — and instead of shrugging, the Villanova engineering student starts sketching. The AWD mountain bike concept is envisioned and the first prototype tested.

Development and testing prove the feasibility of AWD mountain bikes — and reveal the potential for AWD motorcycles.

Christini Technologies is born
Christini Technologies, Inc. is established in Philadelphia, built on the original prototypes and international patents.

First production AWD bike — and Jeep comes calling
CHRISTINI sells the first production AWD mountain bike, and the technology is licensed to Jeep Bicycles for mass production.

Two wheels, more torque
The first AWD motorcycle is designed, built, and tested.

The Today Show
CHRISTINI AWD rides onto national television — the Today Show, St. Patrick’s Day 2003.

First magazine tests
Independent magazine testing begins in California.

AWD goes consumer
The first consumer CHRISTINI AWD motorcycle is sold.

Podium proof
A CHRISTINI-upgraded KTM takes 2nd in the inaugural Extreme Enduro race — AWD proves competitive on the world stage. Road tests in 2009 clock faster lap times than single-wheel-drive machines.

The U.S. military signs on
After exceptional test results, the U.S. military adapts the CHRISTINI AWD platform for worldwide operations; U.S. Border Patrol follows. CHRISTINI races Enduro X at X Games 17 with two top-20 riders and launches its branded motorcycle line.

Street legal
The AWD 450 Dual Sport launches.

Built for Antarctica
CHRISTINI builds its first fat bikes for Kate Leeming’s polar expedition program — the bikes that would ride the Skeleton Coast, the Silk Roads, and toward the South Pole.

The Fat E-Bike era
CHRISTINI launches its line of AWD Fat E-Bikes — the only e-bikes on Earth with true mechanical all-wheel drive.

Cover story
Electric Bike Action puts the Fat-E 5 on its cover: “First Ever! All-Wheel-Drive e-Bike.”

The U.S. military adapts CHRISTINI AWD E-Bikes for Special Forces operations.
